If you're a Black Bear hockey fan you'll remember a few seasons back #89 Gustav Nyquist. He's favored to win The Kentucky Derby this Saturday. Or at least his namesake is. Nyquist is a racehorse named after the now Detroit Red Wing, owned by Paul Reddam who grew up across the river from Detroit in Windsor, Canada.  Actually outside of Alaska where do you go south from the U.S. to enter Canada? Now based in California, Reddam has named at least 7 of his horses after Red Wing players. Good luck in the Derby, Black Bear. And there's another former Black Bear in Detroit to name your next horse after. Jimmy Howard.
