The holidays are right around the corner, literally. Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas is only a month away after that. The Hancock County SPCA wants to get the word out about a few things as we head into the holidays.

They are looking for donations of all kinds to help keep the shelter moving. All the usual things like food and litter and toys, and all the other things you need for the doggies and kitties. But animals are messy sometimes too, so they also really need things like paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, according to WABI TV5.

They also wanted to let folks know that sometimes pets aren't always the best option as a Christmas present at the holidays. Pets are a big responsibility, and don't always make the best surprise, as families need to be prepared for all the work that goes along with it.

However, they do have an adorable pair of dogs that are bonded to each other, and need to be adopted as a pair. One is a pit-bull mix, and the other is described as a "big old mutt". But they are looking for a forever home, and your family has really weighed all the options and would love to know more about them, contact the Hancock SPCA here.

I know there's people and organizations coming from all angles looking for money this time of year, but the SPCA is always a great cause. You will never regret helping out a bunch of soft, furry critters that just want a home.
