The owner of a Maine Christmas tree farm says customers are taking advantage of his businesses “honor system” by stealing trees and wreaths.

Todd Murphy of Trees to Please in Norridgewock says about $2000 worth of merchandise has been stolen this season, including about a dozen trees over the weekend worth $400. Murphy says he stocked the cut trees Saturday night, but when he got to work Sunday morning, they were gone. And he says if people continue to steal, he’ll have no choice but to raise prices. Police have been notified about the thefts.
