Learn more about an intense naval battle during the revolutionary war that took place on the Penobscot River near the coast of Castine. Bangor Historical Society Curator Matt Bishop will be on hand at noon, Tuesday the 7th, to detail the battle and it's impact on Maine.

It is reported the American Navy lost over 400 men in the ship fight. It was one of the greatest victories of the war for the British, and was also the United States' worst naval defeat until Pearl Harbor in 1941, over 160 years later.

The Brown Bag Lunch Series will also be held August 4th, September 8th, and October 6th at the Bangor Historical Society located at 159 Union St. in Bangor.
