Maine has turned into a winter wonderland this year, with snow seeming to fall almost constantly. So I wanted to take a minute to say thanks to all the folks who are spending the entire winter sitting behind the wheel of plow trucks, big and small. We appreciate you! Check out this time-lapse video of what it takes to clear just one parking lot. Wow!

It never ceases to amaze me how Mainers deal with all this snow. As I get in my car each morning and make my way through the dark to work, I'm impressed by the tunnels we cut for ourselves through all the white stuff. The sides of the roads are lined with glistening banks of snow that look so pretty, but took a lot of effort to construct.

I was on YouTube this morning, and happened upon this video, made in Maine last month, of someone in a red truck clearing snow from a parking lot. Each time I see that truck push that snow, my back hurts. Man, that must get tough to take after a while! So, watching the video, it occurred to me that we really need to send out a formal 'THANK YOU' to all the drivers of all the plows, large and small!

Thanks to my landlord John, and his son Johnny who keep my driveway clear so I can get to work at 5 a.m.! Thanks to the plow driver who keeps our parking lot clear so we have a place to park! And thanks to all the folks who drive the big plows and cut roads out of a solid plain of white. We appreciate you each and every day!
