Three teenagers were arrested after a witness reported that the teens were going through mailboxes near 16th Street in Bangor.

Bangor Police Sgt. Tim Cotton says an officer later spotted the teens in the area of Kineo and 14th Streets. He said the officer witnessed the suspects "accessing mailboxes and packages on porches."

Cotton says the teens took off on foot when they were approached by the officer.

The officer called for backup and the suspects were arrested a short time later.

18-year-old Nick Wilson of Portland was charged with theft, refusal to submit to arrest and drug possession.

18-year-old Marcus Mello of Portland was charged with theft and refusal to submit to arrest.

A 17-year-old suspect from Portland and Boston, MA was also arrested. Cotton said the 17-year-old had a warrant out for his arrest.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.
