A teenager was arrested in Bath while driving a vehicle that was reported stolen on Wednesday.

Bath Police Chief Michael Field says Officer Nick Green noticed the Red Ford Explorer on Front Street, with three people inside. Officer Green tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. Police were finally able to halt the vehicle at the corner of Washington and Centre Streets.

The driver, 18-year-old Damon Peacock of Bath was arrested for Operating Without a License, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop, and Illegal Possession of Liquor by a Minor. He was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail after failing to post the $2,000 bail. Peacock's two passengers were a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl. They were questioned and released with no charges.

Bath Police have handled several complaints, in recent weeks, of overnight thefts from unlocked motor vehicles, while includes three stolen vehicles in the same area as the thefts. The vehicles have been recovered but, so far, no arrests have been made. Residents are asked to take their keys out of their vehicles and lock them up at night, as well as report any suspicious behavior.
