A 16-year-old boy was killed in a dirt bike accident last night in the town of Acton.

The York County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened at around 8:30 Tuesday night on Route 109 in Acton. According to the Portland Press Herald, a dirt bike being ridden by 16-year-old Aric J. Davis of Sanford collided with another vehicle. The Jeep he hit was in the process of turning into the Acton Trading Post parking lot. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sanford High School, where Davis was about to start his Junior year, will be open until 3:00 this afternoon. Grief counselors will be available to students and staff in the gym.

A candlelight vigil is planned in Davis' honor at 7:30 tomorrow night in Friendship Park on the Sam Page Road in Acton.
