Teen Bicyclist Hit By Truck Dies

One of two teenagers struck by a truck while riding bikes on Friday has died. He and a friend were riding Friday night and were hit just before 8:30.

WABI-TV reports that Tyler Wood, age 15, died Saturday morning just before noon at a hospital in Portland. He had suffered a serious head injury in the crash. Wood and another teen were riding their bicycles on Union Road in Waldoboro just before 8:30. The other boy suffered a leg injury and, at last report, is in satisfactory condition.

The driver of the truck said he didn't see the boys until it was too late to avoid hitting them. So far, no charges have been filed. Police are still investigating to determine exactly what happened.
