After a few rough -- and very public -- breakups, Taylor Swift has admitted that maybe, just maybe, she just wants to be alone. Even the hopelessly romantic megastar needs to take a break from love every now and then.

After falling head over heels for Conor Kennedy, even introducing him to her family, Swift and the all-American boy suddenly called it quits last fall. Before long, the fun-loving country singer was spotted out and about taking walks with One Direction band member Harry Styles. Eventually, it became obvious that Swift and Styles were dating: They kissed on New Year's Eve and spent a weekend together skiing in the mountains.

But just like that, Swift was single again. But as the 23-year-old country crossover star told Vibe magazine, she does like being single ... sometimes.

"Independence is something I've always needed, from when I was young," she explains, adding, "but I love the idea of romance and falling in love. I've never really had a long relationship. So that's something I think about for the future. It's an interesting part of my personality: Part of me just wants to be alone."

Unfortunately, as much as Swift loves the idea of falling in love, her relationships just aren't playing out like she's hoping they will. But at least she has her independent side to tune into now that she's flying solo again.

"I'm a Sagittarius, which means, you know, I'm blindly optimistic, I love to travel, I'm always up for adventure but also always want something new," she reveals. "Sagittarians are really independent, and we like our space. We're drawn to love but battle for that need for independence."

Maybe this time around, Swift will manage to stay single and enjoy her independence for a little while. On the plus side, her relationships always seem to influence her No. 1 hits, so maybe we'll see a new tune come out of this one. Regardless, the 'Begin Again' hitmaker always seems to land on her feet -- and this time won't be any different.
