Storms on Thursday brought heavy rain and strong gusty winds to parts of Maine and also knocked out power to more than 1,000 Emera Maine customers.

The utility said it received a number of reports of downed trees and power lines on Thursday.

Just before 5 p.m., Emera Maine reported 1,042 customers had lost power, mostly in Lee, Lincoln, Winn and Mattawamkeag.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of the state, saying some areas could see damaging winds, torrential rains and hail.

WABI-TV5 meteorologist Chris Ewing said scattered showers and stray thundershowers will continue Friday across much of Maine.
