State Police Investigating Death Of 8-Year-Old

UPDATE: Police say the boy died of a gunshot wound to the head. [STORY]

State Police are investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy in Oakland.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the boy's body was inside a home at 19 Church Street when first responders arrived just after 6 o'clock Tuesday night. Police talked with the boy's parents about the circumstances of the death and his body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine how he died.

State Police have not released the boy's name, at this time, and continue to investigate. There's no word on whether foul play is suspected.
