A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend was spotted in Guilford Monday afternoon.

Robert Burton has been on the run since Stephanie Gebo’s body was discovered in her Parkman home on June 5.

In a press release sent out Monday evening, State Police said the owner of a Guilford camp spotted Burton on his property around 12 p.m. The camp owner said Burton ran off to nearby Davis Pond and stole a canoe or kayak.

State Police, the Maine Warden Service and the Piscataquis Sheriff's Office searched the area but Burton was not found. The search is now focused on an area off Route 150, about five miles north of downtown Guilford.

This is the second confirmed sighting of the suspect. Burton was spotted along a snowmobile trail in Guilford on June 17.

The suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, is said to be wearing camouflage clothing and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone who comes in contact with Burton is urged to call 911 and not approach the suspect. Area residents are urged to lock their homes and vehicles until the suspect is apprehended.
