Police continue to investigate a pair of crimes that resulted in the deaths of two men. 59-year-old Bruce King died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after his U-Haul was stopped on I-95 near Lincoln yesterday.

Once the four hour standoff was ended, police found the body of 69-year-old Lawrence Lewis in his Molunkus home.

"The reason this U-Haul was stopped in the first place is that state police became involved Monday morning with Lewis's disappearance," says Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland. "A family member had said that he was missing. We got information that two people in a U-Haul may be headed south and that they might have a connection to his disappearance."

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death for Lewis, who was a lifelong registered sex offender.  He was convicted in 1996 of sexually abusing a 9-year-old boy who lived with him. A woman who was driving the U-Haul escaped unharmed, is cooperating with police, and so far has not been charged.
