A 10-hour standoff with police in Chesterville ended peacefully when the suspect turned himself over to authorities.

State Police say 41-year-old Vance Billings of Carthage was staying at the mobile home on Horseshoe Pond, as a guest of the resident. At some point, he allegedly assaulted his host, and that prompted police to be called to the residence, where Billings refused to exit the home for 10 hours. He finally walked out of the residence on his own, and turned himself over to police at around 7:00 Saturday evening.

WABI-TV reports that police found that Billings had a pellet gun and crossbow, but didn't use them. He's facing multiple charges, including criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and violating conditions of release. He's currently being held at the Franklin County Jail.
