Some high school seniors in RSU 20 may have to attend class after graduation because of snow days.

The Bangor Daily News reports the school board has shot down the superintendent's plan to make up snow days on Saturdays.

Some parents and teachers were concerned about students being able to handle a 6-day school week. Some also argued that a 6-day school week would interfere with plans parents had laid out for their children.

Schools in the district have 6 snow days to make up.

The last day of school for seniors in the district is June 12. Students at Searsport District High School and Belfast Area High School are scheduled to graduate on June 7.

Unless there's a new plan, seniors will have to return to school following graduation. The superintendent says it's too late to change the graduation date.

RSU 20 includes students from Belfast, Belmont, Morrill, Northport, Searsmont, Searsport, Stockton Springs and Swanville.
