The advisory will be in effect from noon Tuesday through Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of eastern Maine, with up to 16 inches of snow forecast for the Bangor area.

The forecast is calling for nine-to-16 inches snow.

The cold winds that blew though the area have died down, though, and the weather service on Sunday morning canceled its wind advisory for the area.

Hazardous travel conditions are expected.
