Winter weather continues in Aroostook County with police dealing with several accidents Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m., police were called to a tractor-trailer crash on the northbound lane of the interstate in Island Falls.

Kenneth Lawrence, 42, of Baltimore Maryland was driving a 2000 Western Star tractor trailer unit owned by KDS Express out of Raleigh North Carolina.

Lawrence lost control of his unit on the icy roadway and it jackknifed with the trailer blocking both lanes of traffic.

The interstate was shut down for over an hour and DOT assisted with re-routing traffic around the crash scene. The tractor trailer unit was towed from the scene due to disabling damage and no one was injured.

In addition to that crash, police responded to two other crashes involving tractor trailers jackknifed or stuck on Route 11 near Soucy Hill and Route 163 in Mapleton.

Police also responded to seven other crashes involving passenger cars. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
