The Skowhegan State Fair, the oldest consecutively running agricultural fair in the country, according to fair organizers, will begin its 10-day run on Thursday.

The 198th edition of the fair will include demolition derbies, truck pulls and harness racing.

The event will feature a number of concerts, including performances by Lexi James and the Tyler Healey Band, both of whom have performed in the Q106.5 studio on Wilson Street in Brewer.

The exhibition halls will include agricultural exhibits, 4-H exhibits, arts and crafts and a flower show.

Admission is $2 on August 11, $10 on the 12th-14th and 19th and 20th and $8 August 15-18. Senior Citizen's Day is August 15, when gate admission is just $4 for fairgoers 62 and older.
