A man from New Hampshire died while skiing in Baxter State Park, the first fatality in the park for several years.

WFVX-TV reports the unidentified man was one of seven campers who had spent a couple of days at the Chimney Pond Campground. They were making the 17-mile trip to Abol Bridge when he became separated from the group.

Park officials say the man was found by two hikers near the Abol Pond outlet and was pronounced dead at the scene. So far, there's no word on the cause of death but the investigation is continuing.

This is the first fatality in Baxter State Park since a person was struck by lightning in 2007.
