A Waterville woman was summoned on six charges after police say her pit bull bit someone who was walking past her home on Belmont Avenue Monday.

Deanna Butcher, 55, was summoned on charges of keeping a dangerous dog and allowing a dog to be at large and two charges each of violating rabies prevention protocol for dogs and keeping an unlicensed dog, reports the Kennebec Journal.

The passer-by went to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The city’s animal control officer, Christopher Martinez, said he was bitten by Butcher's dog in a separate incident last year.
