It was a great year for the 50th running of the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race, even though plenty of people took a quick dip into the chilly water!

921 participants made it a very successful 50th running of the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race. Add in the temperatures in the 60's and plenty of sunshine, and it was just a perfect day! Lots of spectators lined the banks of the stream, to cheer on those who made it through the tough spots, and to laugh at...er....encourage those who got wet.

One tough spot on the race route is Shopping Cart Falls, which is close to the Downtown Bangor area, and that's where Herb Crosby, who posted this video on YouTube, set up his camera. He caught some of the more talented, or luckier souls who didn't dump their craft. Gumby apparently had a good bunch of paddlers, because they kept him upright. But some didn't fare quite so well!

Congratulations to all who took part in the race, and to Canadian kayaker Trever MacLean, who won his eighth consecutive Kenduskeag win, and his 12th overall. Great job!
