A serial sex offender has been arrested again, this time for photographing a boy in a public bathroom. He has a total of eight previous sex related convictions.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Marc Alberi, age 46 of Newport, was arrested at his Elm Street home on Monday. He's charged with possessing sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 12.

Investigators say Alberi used his cellphone camera to take pictures of an 11-year-old boy who was using the urinal at the Palmyra Walmart on Sunday. The boy reported the incident and Alberi was identified by the store's security team. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail after his arrest.

Alberi was convicted of unlawful sexual contact in 1998 and sentenced to two years in jail. He has a total of 8 sex related convictions and is required to register with the Maine Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life.

Contributing to the investigation were the Newport Police, State Police, and the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
