U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, enjoyed lunch today with the Bangor Noontime Rotary Club, of which she is an honorary member.

As guest speaker, Collins started her address with the statement that she hoped she could be "enlightening" without being "disheartening." Her points of discussion focused on the federal deficit and debt.

"The national debt stands at an almost incomprehensible $16.4 trillion. The tab for every man, woman, and child tops $52,000.00 and is our legacy to future generations," Collins said.
