A Sedgwick woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child Sunday after she left her 4-year-old daughter in a hot car, police said.

Police responded to the Family Dollar in Ellsworth at about 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive child in a car in the parking lot. Police said the girl turned out to be sleeping and was not hurt.

The girl's mother, Shawntelle Gramolini, 22, was charged after police used a thermometer to check the temperature inside the vehicle, which was 90 degrees, said Ellsworth Police Chief Glenn Moshier.

Gramolini said she went inside the store to get some snacks. Moshier told the Ellsworth American that the girl was inside the vehicle for 10-15 minutes.
