Three people were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Searsport Sunday afternoon.

The cars collided head-on near the Stockton Springs line at about 2:30 p.m.

Both drivers, Teresa Sirois, 34, of Belfast and John Theriault, 62, of Gouldsboro, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Peggy Thoner, 40, of Gouldsboro, a passenger in Theriault's vehicle, was also seriously hurt in the accident.

WABI-TV5 reported Monday afternoon that all three people involved in the wreck were still in the hospital receiving treatment.

Police said everyone was wearing a seat belt.

A portion of Route 1 was closed for about forty minutes while crews cleaned up the accident.
