A school in Massachusetts is taking a little heat for sending what some are calling a 'Fat Letter' to a child's parents. Apparently, a school evaluation revealed that one child's BMI (body mass index) is in the 95% percentile, meaning the child is obese. Of course this raises a lot of questions. And as a parent I'd be a tad on the enraged side to have received such a letter. Here's the letter: Health Assessment

I do understand that schools need to be concerned about the children that are their responsibility during the school season, and I do understand that anything that impedes my child educationally should be addressed properly, but I think this crosses a line.

Here's the Yahoo article: Getting a 'Fat Letter'
