Throughout the month of October, I'm going to offer up reviews of horror movies and TV shows. These are strictly my opinion, as Jim and I make our way through "Horror Season" at our house. With Halloween almost here, it's fun to get scared together! And here's the best movies we've seen so far!

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen is "The Haunting in Connecticut." Virginia Madsen stars as a mother whose son is going through radical cancer treatments. When the commute becomes too much, she and her family rent a large house near the hospital. Turns out this house used to be a mortuary where they performed seances. Trust me when I say that it will scare the bejeebers out of you! The acting is very good, the effects are creepy, and the storyline is solid. GREAT Halloween watching! Just....don't watch it if you're home alone and plan to sleep right after!

"Fright Night" is a 2011 remake of a classic from the 1980's. Now, I'm not big on remakes. But Colin Farrell is a joy to watch in this role as the vampire-next-door. As vampire movies go, it's a little predictable. But the acting is good, the storyline is fun, and it does a great job of infusing humor. Just a fun scary-night romp through vampire-ridden suburbia. I highly recommend it!

Finally, we watched "The Reaping." Hilary Swank plays a former Christian missionary who goes around debunking religious phenomena. But she has her hands full when she gets called to a small town that seems to be suffering from the 10 biblical plagues. This movie will keep you guessing all the way through. Until the last of it, you're not quite sure what the heck is going on. And I love movies with a twist, and this one has a great twist at the end!

What are your favorite horror/thriller movies? Write them in the comments section below and we'll check them out!

That's it for now! We'll keep watching and have more reviews soon.

Happy Horror Watching!
