UPDATE: Missing 16-Year-Old Girl Found Safe

UPDATE: The missing girl has been found safe.

The Sanford Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a missing 16-year-old girl.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, Ellie Thompson was last seen leaving her home in Sanford on February 12th, at around 2:00 in the afternoon. She was wearing a fuzzy brown jacket, jeans, a purple hooded sweatshirt, and was carrying a bright orange backpack. Ellie is a white female, 5'1" tall, weighing about 100 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Members of the Sanford Police force have checked with Ellie's friends and family, and at several of her local hangouts, but haven't found any sign of her. Now, they're being helped in the search by the FBI and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.
