A Sanford man accused of trying to break into a woman's home, causing her to suffer a fatal heart attack, has been indicted for felony murder.

Carlton Young, 24, is accused of causing the death of Connie Rose Loucks, 62, of Wells, reports the Portland Press Herald.

Young was initially accused of being part of a burglary ring, breaking into houses in southern Maine. Police say Young and at least one other person broke into Loucks' residence on March 24, 2015. Loucks wasn't home at the time of the alleged incident. She was home the following day, when police say Young returned to the home and attempted to break in again.

Young has been held in the York County Jail since March 26, 2015. He was indicted on the new felony murder charge on Tuesday.

In addition to felony murder, which is a lesser charge than murder and carries a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison, Young has been charged with felony attempt to commit a crime, four felony counts of burglary and four felony counts of theft.
