A Sabattus man, who was sought by police after an alleged domestic incident, turned himself over to authorities this morning.

Police spent Wednesday afternoon outside a home where 34-year-old Scott Albert had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend. The Portland Press Herald reports the woman told police Albert had assaulted her all night and into the morning hours before she managed to escape. Officials aren't sure whether it was technically a standoff because Albert never responded to efforts by police to communicate with him, and so he may have fled the scene before officers arrived.

The public was urged to lock their doors until police could find Albert. But the manhunt ended when he turned himself in. He's charged with Domestic Violence Assault, Domestic Violence Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
