At least five kids, all under 15 years old, are facing charges after the grandmother of one of the children came home and found the kids intoxicated.

Police in Rockland say four kids, ages 15, 14, 13 and 11, were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.

The Bangor Daily News reports the 11-year-old and a second 11-year-old were charged with stealing alcohol from a nearby Hannaford.

Juvenile Community Corrections Officer Linda Elliot says the kids could avoid court if they have no prior offenses.

They would have to attend an alcohol education program, perform community service and undergo substance abuse counseling.

Elliot says if any of the kids have a record they'll have to go to court.
