A local couple is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people who slashed school bus tires in RSU 16.

WMTW-TV reports the reward is not being offered by law enforcement, but by a couple who lives in Androscoggin County and want to see the vandals arrested. The couple has not been identified.

On Tuesday night, two people were caught on video slashing tires on a pickup and on a school bus. Administrators say tires were slashed on every bus in the parking lot, forcing them to cancel school on Wednesday. A band concert also had to be postponed. Mechanics worked all day Wednesday and replaced all the damaged tires so school could resume on Thursday. The total amount of the damage is estimated to be around $12,000.

A surveillance video was released of the vandals in action. Anyone who thinks they may recognize the pair is urged to contact the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office at (207) 753-2500.
