Since 2003, when I became a member of the Q-106.5 Air-staff, some of my proudest moments have come from the support and involvement with the Pine Tree Camp in Rome. Over those 10 years, The Q-106.5 Pine Tree Camp Egg Ride, with the assistance of the greatest listeners in the world, have donated over $350,000.00 dollars to the Pine Tree Camp, with an astounding amount of somewhere around $500,000.00 in the 21 years of the Egg Ride.

Last night the Annual Downeast Feast at the Pine Tree Camp hosted by the Pine Tree Society, 3 people were honored with the 'Spirit of the Pine Tree Society'

  1. Adam Violette - The Facility Manager for Cainbro has been giving The Pine Tree Camp advice on the design and construction plans for five new camper cabins.
  2. Michelle "Shelly" Schwieterman - She has participated in The Pine Tree Society's Community Services Day since 2007, a Pine Tree Camper since 2008, and this summer she was hired by the Pine Tree Camp to work part-time  in their kitchen. Shelly is also the 1st Pine Tree Society participant to receiver this award, Shelly exemplifies all of the core values the organization lives and breathes each and every day!
  3. Maine's Country Station, Q-106.5! - For the past 21 years, Q-106.5 has supported The Pine Tree Camp through the Snowmobile Ride-In fundraising event we call 'The Q-106.5 Pine Tree Camp Egg Ride' The Egg Ride has grown to become one of the Ride-In's most anticipated events each and every year, and last year Q-106.5 listeners opened their wallets and hearts to the sum of $55,000.00 dollars, bringing our total raised to around $500,000.00, which doesn't include the countless hours of valuable air time. The impact of the money raised translates into 200 full Pine Tree Camp tuitions.

Not only was a great meal served, and awards handed out, the new Executive Director of the Pine Tree Society, Noel Sullivan was introduced and the ground breaking of the new playground was held, another one of Pine Tree Camper Nicholas Alexander's dreams that will become a reality before next years camping season! Their motto 'Discovering Abilities Together' was definitely felt last night at camp! Thank-you for the honor, and one amazing night!
