We had a report earlier this week about a moose on the loose in Brewer. Apparently there was also one in Bangor! So Bangor PD issued a friendly warning, in their usual tongue-in-cheek way. Thanks for making us laugh! Unfortunately, it had to be taken down.

State Police confirmed for us last week that a moose was hit by a car near Brewer's City Hall. No one was injured and the moose went on its way. Another moose (or the same moose?) was spotted in Bangor at around the same time. Mother and child that were separated? Or lovers split apart by the Penobscot? No idea. But the fact is, it's a good reminder to be mindful of the large animals this time of year, even when you're driving through the city streets.

The meme (picture with a printed slogan on it) made reference to knowing you're from Maine if you remember 'How to Hit a Moose' day in Driver's Ed. But, apparently, whoever created the meme didn't appreciate that it had been shared. The Bangor PD removed the post and apologized.

Seems to me that if you make something like that and post it on Facebook, you should expect that it would get shared. I mean, isn't that why most of us do it? Ah well....it was fun while it lasted! And the message is still an excellent one....watch out for moose in the road!
