A Bangor police cruiser collided with a car driven by a Dedham woman Sunday night.

Police say 59-year-old Elizabeth Gray failed to stop at the intersection of Broadway and Somerset Street.

The Bangor Daily News reports the police vehicle struck the front passenger side of Gray’s car, sending it into a concrete pole.

The woman told police she looked down for something on the passenger seat, and by the time she looked up again, she had already driven past the stop sign.

Gray was taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain caused by her seat belt.

The police officer was not injured.
