Bath Police are asking for the public's help locating a man suspected of attacking another person with a hammer.

Lieutenant Robert Savary says 38-year-old Jason Mackenzie is wanted for Aggravated Assault in connection with an incident on August 24th. Bath Police Officers responded just before 1:30 that day to 98 Union Street for a report of a man that had been assaulted with a hammer. Upon arriving, they found a 37-year-old man from Bowdoin who had suffered non-life threatening injuries to his face.

Police interviewed the victim, as well as witnesses, and learned that Mackenzie had fled the scene before they arrived. They learned that the two men had argued inside and then, when moving the altercation outside, Mackenzie allegedly picked up the hammer and struck the victim several times in the 'facial area.' A hammer was located outside the building.

There is an active warrant on Mackenzie, charging him with Aggravated Assault, a Class B Crime. Anyone with information about Mackenzie's location is urged to contact their local law enforcement agency. Investigators have received information that he may be in the Dresden or Augusta areas.
