Police on Thursday identified the victim in an early morning crash that claimed the life of one man and injured two others.

Matthew Spencer, 28 of Greenbush was pronounced dead at the scene of the Wednesday morning crash on the County Road in Milford.

The accident occurred when an eastbound pickup driven by his brother Nicholas Spencer, 21, of Greenbush, left the road, clipped a utility pole, rolled over an caught fire. The accident was reported at 1 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed.

Nicholas Spencer was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center with life threatening injuries. A third person in the vehicle, Samuel Ketch, 29 of Milford, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say excessive speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash.

Police also say there was an interaction between the three men and a group of other people at the Milford On the Run minutes before the crash. Investigators would like to identify and speak with those people.
