Portland Police say a man whose body was found near the Fore River was struck by a vehicle.

In a post on the department's Facebook page, police say 57-year-old Edward Blumenthal was most likely walking east on Congress Street when he was struck by a large vehicle, possibly a truck, that was traveling in the same direction. His body was found by a utility worker on Tuesday in some brush near the Fore River.

Blumenthal was last seen alive on September 9th, just after 7:30 in the evening. Surveillance video show him walking out of his apartment building on Preble Street. Polcie say he had his cellphone, which was active until the battery died at 7:51 a.m. on September 10th.

Now, police are asking that anyone who thinks they may have information about the incident contact their traffic division at (207) 874-8908. Blumental was a white male, 5'9", 180 pounds, with short brown/gray hair, and blue eyes. He was wearing an orange jacket and blue jeans at the time of his death. The above picture shows Blumenthal, the surveillance image that shows how he was dressed when he died, and the location of the incident.
