Police have released the details of a head-on collision in Bar Harbor, stating that it was the box truck that crossed the center line. One person was killed in the accident.

The crash happened just after 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon on State Route 3, in the Hulls Cove area known as 'The Bluffs.' Bar Harbor Police say a box truck, registered to Installed Building Products of Hermon, Maine crossed the center line and hit a sedan that was parked on the dirt shoulder.

The driver of the truck, 41-year-old Miguel Garcia of Bangor was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, 18-year-old Aaron Bangs of Sorrento, wasn't hurt. Police say the registered owner of the Buick, 79-year-old Roger Beghtol of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died of his injuries when he was struck while standing outside the Buick sedan. His passenger, 73-year-old Sally Beghtol of North Carolina was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation. Bar Harbor Police were assisted by the Bar Harbor Fire Department, the Northeast Ambulance Service, the Mount Desert Police Department, the Ellsworth Police Department, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, and Acadia National Park.
