Police Release Identity of Woman Killed in Elderly Housing Fire

The State Fire Marshal's Office has released the identities of a woman who was killed and another who was critically injured overnight in a fire at an elderly housing complex in Oxford.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the woman who died is 85-year-old Theresa Heino, while the woman in critical condition is 65-year-old Virginia Brown. She's being treated at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

Stare Fire Marshal investigators continue to search for the cause and will be calling in an electrical inspector on Monday. The fire started in the common area of the main building and destroyed that room, sending thick smoke throughout the building. Smoke detectors were working but, because of the age of the building, it had no sprinkler system.
