A standoff in Manchester was prompted when an elderly man reported to police that he had shot his wife.

The incident began shortly before 8 o'clock Saturday morning, when 82-year-old Clyde Shue called police to tell them he had killed his wife, 62-year-old Kimberly Shue. State Police went to the home at 542 Prescott Road, to try and communicate with Mr. Shue.

Centralmaine.com reports a tactical team finally entered the residence at around 3 o'clock that afternoon to find both people dead. Kimberly's body was discovered in her bed, while her husband's was in a mud room, with a handgun near the body.

Police continue to investigate and autopsies are planned by the State Medical Examiner's office.
