Police have identified the body found in the Kennebec River as that of a local transgender woman from the Waterville area.

The body of Lexxi T Sironen, whom police describe as a 43-year-old transgender female, was found floating in the reservoir at the Brookfield Facility on Water Street. Police say Sironen had been living along the river bank near head of falls and associating with other transient people in the area.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sironen’s death remains open and is being jointly conducted between the Waterville Police Department and the Maine State Police.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Waterville Police Detective David Caron at 207-680-4700.
