A Vermont man has been arrested after several items, including military awards, were stolen from a home in Milford.

The burglary on Call Road was reported to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that the home had sustained substantial damage and several items were taken, including military awards that were removed from a shadow box.

As part of the investigation, Joshua Francis, 26, of Vermont was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and aggravated criminal mischief.

He was located at a residence in Greenbush, and police said that most of the stolen items, including the military awards, were recovered.

The owner of the residence was not home at the time of the crime.
