The driver of a 2008 Ford F-150 was transported to the Aroostook Medical Center after his pickup collided with a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer on Route 1 in Blaine Friday, police said.

Witnesses said the pickup, operated Ned Ketchum, 48, of Mars Hill, crossed the center line while traveling northbound, Maine State Police said in a news release. The driver of the semi, Wayne Cushman, 59, also of Mars Hill, tried to avoid a collision with Ketchum's vehicle, but he couldn't get out of the way in time.

The pickup was totaled in the crash, and the tractor-trailer sustained extensive damage.

Ketchum suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The release did not say if Cushman was hurt in the accident.

Police are still investigating the collision.
