It's been a few years since I've been in High School, but as I think back I like the proposal by South Carolina, mandating that High Schoolers would have to take a personal Finance Class to graduate. Here's the story.

Lots of classes in High School teach you things that you might not ever have to apply in later life. But knowing how to do your taxes, or how to balance a check book, or how to save for the future might be seen years later as very good advice.  This from the guy who took typing class because the class would be full of girls, but it's something I use each and everyday.  Every hour.  And from the guy who has fond memories of my History teacher in the 12th grade, who for a school project about U.S.- Canada relations allowed me to do a project on the differences in commercial radio between the two countries.  Wow Mr Borins, you rocked!
