Perry Elementary School was evacuated, and students were sent home early due to a bomb threat on Wednesday, school officials said.

The threat turned out to be a false alarm, reports the Bangor Daily News.

The automated phone call threat was reported around 9 a.m., according to Principal Daniel Morang. The school was evacuated, and students were sent home for the day.

Firefighters from Perry, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and police officers from Pleasant Point and Eastport responded to the school, conducting a sweep of the building, but nothing was found.

A similar threat was also reported at Geiger Elementary School in Lewiston on Wednesday.
