Pepino's Mexican Restaurant will be moving from its current location on Stillwater Avenue to Park Street in Downtown Bangor.

Pepinos once resided in Downtown Bangor but moved to Stillwater in 1996.  Pepinos has been in Bangor since 1978.

Susan and Andy Stephenson have owned the Bangor restaurant since 2010.  They are currently refurbishing the former Luna Bar And Grill location at 49 Park Street behind Bangor City Hall where Pepinos will reside beginning in January.

The restaurant will employ the same staff, have essentially the same menu with a few new additions, and an expanded beer and wine selection.

In an article in the Bangor Daily News, Susan Stephenson said, "Over the past several years, downtown Bangor has been growing, and the amazing independent restaurants are making downtown the place to dine in Bangor. We’re so excited to become a part of this community.”

Competition in the Mexican restaurant business had increase recently in the Bangor Mall area as Las Palapas moved into where the old Ninety Nine steak house once was.  With Chili's on Stillwater and Miquel's on Hogan Road, four Mexican restaurants are currently competing for business in that area.

Pepino’s Taco Stand started out on Center Street in Bangor in the 1970s, before that you had to go all the way to Portland for Mexican cuisine.

We are very happy that Pepinos will remain in Bangor and wish them all the best!!
