State Police say an escapee from a Pennsylvania jail was arrested on the Maine Turnpike early Monday morning.

Around 4 AM yesterday Trooper Richard Maguire pulled over a car on the turnpike near the Ogunquit-Wells town line for an expired registration. Derek Lee Black (34) of Albion, PA was a passenger in the car. When Black was questioned, he gave the trooper a false name. The car’s driver, Mindy Baxter (26) of Bangor, also told the trooper she did not know her passenger’s full name.

Black was arrested for failing to give a correct name. An FBI fingerprint check of him at the York County Jail later revealed his true identity.  Black had been jailed in Pennsylvania on drug charges and disappeared from a hospital in March where he had been taken for a facial cut.

Arrangements are now being made to return him to Pennsylvania to face escape charges. Baxter was summonsed for operating a vehicle with a restricted license.
