A second grader from Orrington is only 80 toys shy of his goal of 2,012 to donate to Toys for Tots. This story has really touched my heart and makes me think that I'll be dropping a donation off this afternoon. What a wonderful young man he must be!

This is the second year that Brayden Mott has collected toys for the Toys for Tots program. Last year he collected 322 toys during the two weeks before Christmas. But this year, the 8-year-old wanted to give back in a big way. So he reached out to family and friends for donations and now his bedroom looks like a department store! When asked why he does it, Brayden replied that he just likes to give back to the community.

Time is running out and Brayden is very close to his goal. He's only 80 toys shy of that 2,012. You can help by dropping off a donation at the Maine Discovery Museum, 74 Main Street in Bangor. Checks should be made out to Toys for Tots.

On a personal note, I want to tell this very special young man and his parents, Heather and Shawn Mott, that I moved to Orrington because of wonderful people like them. Merry Christmas to the Mott family!
